Types of Anxiety Disorders: Anxiety disorder can be classified into following types and each having a distinct symptom profile.

  • Social Anxiety Disorder – It is also called Social phobia. It is kind of fear which they feel on being judge by others and they start behaving in a way that might cause embarrassment or lead to fleer. The most common type of social phobia is Performance Anxiety.
  • Specific Phobias – It is exaggerated or unrealistic fear of specific object, activity or situation that in reality presents little to no danger. It includes fear of animals like snakes or spiders, fear of heights or fear of flying.
  • Panic Disorder – It is characterized by repeated, unexpected panic attacks as well as fear of experiencing next episode. Other symptom of panic disorder embraces chest pain, sweating, palpitations and a feeling of choking.
